WEI MAI NING serves as an adjuvant treatment for sarcoma cancer, a malignant tumour of connective or other non-epithelial tissue. Widely used to treat inflammatory diseases and bacterial dysentery, WEI MAI NING reduces toxin and the side effects of post-chemotherapy and radiotherapy. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), many studies have proven Buckwheat’s extract ‘Fr4’ can prevent the spread of cells, especially malignant cells, reaching into surrounding tissues, and thus suppresses the growth of transplanted tumours of Sarcoma.

​In a study published by NCBI, which was done to evaluate the in vitro and in vivo anti-tumoral effects of recombinant buckwheat trypsin inhibitor (rBTI) on hepatic cancer cells and the mechanism of apoptosis involved. A group of mice with ascites (abnormal buildup of fluid in the abdomen) and cancer were injected with different concentration of rBTI. From the graph shown (Pic 2), the higher the rBTI concentration leads to lower ascites and lower number of cancer cells. Other active ingredient in Buckwheat such as proanthocyanidin is used as dietary supplement to increase body immunity, while epicatechin is a strong anti-oxidant. The product has been used in Malaysia’s government hospitals including National Cancer Institute (NCI), Hospital Putrajaya, Sultan Ismail Hospital, Kepala Batas Hospital, etc.
